The Countdown Begins
Fulfilling Your Destiny
(Even after denying it!)
When I started this newsletter 14 months ago I had every intention on focusing purely on creator-owned work. Over the course of that time my original plan didn’t really work. Some parts did, but not enough to make a significant difference. So, I had to abandon it and formulate a new one. That plan, the current one where I added assistants and turned Studio Skye-Tiger into a kind of a production studio and opened it up to multiple clients in addition to our own has had some GREAT merits! That said, we’re still a work-in-progress and ever evolving. A large part of that evolution is the decision to no longer take on any more freelance or work-for-hire contracts. After some downtime due to an injury that I’m STILL recovering from and all the occurrences that transpired because of that, it gave me a lot of time to think, gain some clarity about who I am as a creator and how I’d like to do things, and soon the path became crystal clear. As of this writing, we’ve got roughly six months of freelance work to complete and then it’s one hundred percent creator-owned from there! More will be revealed very soon, but things have recently been put into place behind the scenes to move forward into this part of my career with confidence and I’m just as excited about it as I am grateful!
One of the changes happening fairly soon is that I’ll be back on the convention circuit! I’ll only be doing local shows to start because I’m on a budget, but I’ll be attending San Diego Comic-Con Saturday July, 22. It’s only for one day and I’ll keep you posted on where I’ll be and what I’ll be doing so that you can find me.
Everything that I’ve been able to become, everyone I’ve been able to meet, and a multitude of so many other factors is in some way due to the creation and publication of Midnight Tiger. Not to discount my personality or my artistic ability, but each of those things are rolled up into this character that I love and am forever tied to. So, it’s high time that I give my beloved creation….ALL my creations….the priority they’ve deserved and the faith in them that I had so freely given to my childhood favorites like Spider-Man and the like. Here’s a look in pictures of the journey that Midnight Tiger has taken me on…
Life is a winding road and at the end of that road you’ll discover that no one is going to care about you and your work more than you. NOBODY. Believe in yourself and all you create, give it a chance to reach its fullest potential, hold onto something, and enjoy the ride. You’ll be surprised at the gifts it can bring you. All you need to do is have faith!
